Entrepreneurship

Sharon Brown, founder of Environmental & Occupational Safety Services, Inc. (EOSS), a full service environmental engineering firm based out of New Jersey, worked with her mentor to grow her business in a difficult economy by diversifying her client base.
In partnership with Inc. magazine, CEO’s Entrepreneur Mentoring Program (EMP) is building highly interactive mentoring communities in several cities nationwide by pairing entrepreneurs running high-growth companies with successful business leaders or entrepreneur mentors. EMP focuses on promoting business-to-business public service to support entrepreneurial success in underserved communities. The program fosters relationships by facilitating one-on-one meetings, entrepreneurial workshops, and networking events. EMP is currently working with entrepreneurs in Chicago, Newark, New York, Oakland, and Philadelphia.
Over the course of 12 months, entrepreneurs work towards fulfilling their professional goals by entering into a mentor-mentee relationship with founders and CEOs of some of the fastest growing companies in America.
Mentors help entrepreneurs:
- Develop a better understanding of their business and industry
- Become better leaders and sharpen their business acumen
- Make better decisions on the critical issues facing their company and develop strategic plans to foster growth
- Expand their professional network
Additionally, CEO has continued its long-standing partnership with Booz & Company and New York University’s Stern School of Business in supporting New York small businesses by providing financial and operational baseline assessment for select EMP’s mentee companies in New York. To date, the program has provided more than 72,500 hours of pro bono technical assistance worth more than $15 million to local entrepreneurs.
